Hall, Jefferey. Jefferey A. Hall received the Jeffers Handbell Publishing “2001 Composer of the Year.” He studied voice at Pennsylvania State University and later, organ at Middle Tennessee State University (BM). Jeff began writing handbell music in 1991; because at that time, there were very few handbell compositions for Catholic handbell choirs. He published his first work in 1995, and has published many titles since. Most of his titles are on publishers “best seller” lists; and have been recorded by nationally acclaimed handbell choirs. He resides in Nashville, TN, and serves as Director of Music Ministries at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Madison, TN. In 1996, he founded the annual Middle Tennessee Handbell Festival and Workshop. An active member of the AGEHR, Jeff has served as a clinician at AGEHR Directors Seminar, as well as many bell festivals thoughout the country. Jeff can be contacted at MusicArr2@AOL.com

June is the founding Music Director of Joyful Sound, a community handbell choir in the Indianapolis, IN area.  She is also the Traditional Music Director and Organist at Old Bethel United Methodist Church 7995 East 21st St. Indianapolis, Indiana and continues to teach at Area V and national events. Hanson, Nick -- tintinnabulator@gmail.com -- Nick currently serves as the handbell instructor for the five ensembles (5th-12th grades) at The Potomac School in McLean, VA. He holds a BA from Concordia University, Irvine, CA, with a major in music emphasizing in handbells, and he is currently working towards his Masters in Church Music at Concordia University, Wisconsin, again emphasizing in handbells. He has rung in church, community, and professional ensembles; directed for churches, on the collegiate level, and for reading sessions; currently serves as editor for Emerson Music; and is a published author in Overtones. As a teacher and clinician, Nick has been a part of Music 'n Arts Exploration, Concordia University's Summer Ring, and has taught classes and workshops in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

A music librarian by profession, Jean has also been active as a musicologist, and a teacher of musicology, music history, music bibliography, and music librarianship. She received degrees in music from Emory University (Atlanta, Ga.) and Cornell University (Ithaca, N.Y.) and in librarianship from Syracuse University (Syracuse, N.Y.) He is also a promoter of handbell concerts, both Church and Community/Professional groups..  Taylor has a bachelor's degree in business and MBA hours and enjoys the business of making music with handbells.  "Claim to fame is hauling buckets, and having done if for a long time. Michael is also the organ instructor at Immaculata College. Michael did his undergraduate work in organ performance at Lebanon Valley College and did graduate work in Music History and Literature at West Chester University. He is an active composer of handbell, organ, and choral music with over sixty pieces in print. Michael has also won nine composition contests including the 1997, 1998, and 2000 AGEHR National Composition Contests. An original hymn, "God of the Universal Song," won the Northern Virginia AGO Hymn Competition in 1996. A handbell festival director and clinician, Michael is also an active organ recitalist. He is a past Dean of the Delaware Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and has served as Delaware State Chair for AGEHR. Michael began working with handbells in 1985 when he started a four octave handbell choir at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Hockessin, Delaware. This past year, he is the founder/director of the Wilmington Handbell Ensemble which is the first auditioned community handbell choir in Delaware.

*Hieber, Robert,  the third President of AGEHR, serving from 1959-63.  His presidency came at the end of the Castle Hill Festivals eras (begun by the NEGEHR) and at the beginning of the National Festivals era. In 1959, Mrs. Bessie Erb, president at the time, said of him,  " (Dr. Hieber is) a musician who appreciates the value of handbells in any musical program, who is skilled in arranging music and directing handbell choirs, and, in addition, is an efficient organizer who will contribute to the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers just what we need now."  (OVERTONES, Vol. 6, No. 1).  When asked to share what he felt was his unique contribution to the art of handbell ringing, Bob listed "the formulation of Area groupings as the AGEHR organization grew, the insistence on maintaining the spirit of sharing, and the perpetual absence of competition among bell groups."  Bob Hieber was elected an Honorary Life Member of AGEHR in 1967 in honor of his "faithful service and uniting efforts on behalf of the Guild."   Looking back over Bob's term in office, Nancy Poore Tufts wrote in 1976 that Dr. Robert Hieber, the first of the line of professional church musicians to bear the torch, made tremendous early strides in setting up festivals, improving equipment, and quality of music.  Bob served as organist at Peach Memorial Presbyterian Church in Clearwater, Florida from 1968 until his retirement in 1987.  After a short bout with cancer, he died at his home in Largo, Florida on May 31, 1992.Pr. 1959-63

Hilty, Everett  (TS)  -- 2241 Fourth St Boulder CO 80302   -  Everett was elected as an Honorary Life Member in 1992.  He describes his introduction to handbells as being "conned into becoming involved ... at the University of Colorado in the Neanderthal days of modern handbell ringing."  After being on the faculty for many years, Everett left a legacy in organ and handbells, and the handbell alumni still enjoy his teaching and influence.  As a composer, Everett has stretched the traditional concept of melody and harmony, writing music that is rhythmically based and expores the special sonorities of handbells.   In "classical music circles" his compositions might be considered "avante guarde."   Everett also developed a unique handbell assignment system that may be found at  http://www.highplainsringers.org/Hilty_bell_assignment.html  -   Organist, Professor , Composer, Arranger  AGEHR Composer
