-- Bill, retired from First Baptist Church, Baytown, Texas as Minister of Music in 2001. He has been active in the handbell world since 1975. Bill is the handbell editor for Ring Out! Press, Composers Music and Ring Praise! Publications. Bill often leads handbell workshops and festivals. He contributes on a regular basis to several publishers and does occasional commissions. Bill was named composer of the year, twice, by Jeffers Handbell Supply (in 1996 and in 2006). In 2006 the award was a shared honor with Linda Lamb. They collaborated on a handbell collection called THE CHRISTMAS BOOK. Bill now has something over 750 arrangements and original handbell compositions published with a variety of publishers. He has written arrangements and edited the handbell hymnals for Integrity
(Celebration Hymnal) and Lillenas (Ring to the Lord). He also contributed arrangements to the Word Hymnal and the Baptist Hymnal.

His love of handbells began after graduating from Westminster Choir College,
when he took a job at Latrobe Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania and discovered
they had a set of Petit and Fritzen bells on order. Knowing nothing
about handbells, he set out to learn all he could about the instrument.
Since then, he has built strong church choirs in Red Bank, NJ and in Charlotte,
NC. Member of AGEHR since 1961 and has attended an area or national festival
almost every year since then, taking one or two bell groups from his church.
Director of the Bicentennial Rings in 1976. Honored as Master Conductor
by AGEHR in 1996 (?). Two books published by Agape: Handbell
Assignment Book - the Eight - Ten System & Handbell
Ringing - Learning, Ringing, Teaching. Bob served the AGEHR as National
Secretary, through the Presidential Cycle (President 1971-73), on many
committees, and as a clinician and massed conductor. He is the arranger
of many concert pieces, Conductor of National and Area Festival Conferences,
and noted handbell Clinician throughout the United States and other countries.
Bob has the distinction of having taught handbell ringing to the Radio
City Music Hall Rockettes as well as church choirs over the years.
In truth, the Rockettes just pretended to ring as a recording of Bob's
Red Bank choir was providing the music.
