of DeColores, a virtuoso comminity handbell choir ringing extended octaves

-- www.steproject.com -- Michael is an accomplished solo ringer, clinician, and massed conductor. Michael Kastner and Kevin McChesney co-authored a book "Solo Ringing! Musically," published by Jeffers, which is a comprehensive discussion of the tools used in solo and ensemble ringing. They also are co-owners of a music publishing business, "STEP," which specializes in music and techniques for soloists and ringers in small ensembles, boasting a membership of 800, nation-wide and in ten countries. Michael spends time with his bride, Nancy, also a handbell enthusiast and with their sons, Michael Lee and Nicholas.
*Kearns, Jacques M. (Jack) (TS) Honorary Life - Jack retired after forty six years as a Minister of Music in Baptist churches in Oklahoma, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Georgia. He served as Chairman of AGEHR Area IV (SC, GA, FL, Bahamas and Puerto Rico) for five years, National Treasurer for four years and the six year Presidencial cycle, including President 1993-95. He is a published Composer, Arranger of handbell music and Author on handbell matters. Conductor of handbell groups since 1965, and Clinician at State, Area and National levels of AGEHR and state Baptist Conventions. Jack is still involved with AGEHR as Electronic Liaison (internet) to the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Museum Committee. His video tape interview as a "Tempo Setter" was released mid-2000. He was voted Honorary Life member in 1999. Who's Who in Religion. Director Emeritus of the Columbia County Choral Society, Evans, GA. Died December 2005.

She is the Artistic Director and a ringer with Quintessence Handbell Ensemble quintet, who released their first CD, “A Ring of Bronze” in October 2009. Heather has performed in worship and in concerts across southern Ontario, across western Canada, in the United States, in a barn, in a castle, at the top of Toronto's CN Tower, and on a Cruise Ship. Heather is the only international ringer ever chosen to be a part of the Dream Team teaching & performance quartet for the Solo/Ensemble Extravaganza in Philadelphia, PA in July 2007. Heather was chosen to perform as a soloist at the 2010 AGEHR Pinnacle event in Nashville, TN. She has four solo handbell arrangements in publication. Heather frequently teaches workshops on solo ringing, ensemble ringing, 4-in-hand ringing and bell trees at local, provincial, national and international handbell events. She is the Editor of "Clapper Chatter", the newsletter of the Ontario Guild of English Handbell Ringers.

a long association with handbells and the AGEHR in 1962, She served
as the handbell director for the Bennet Community Church, in Bennet, Nebraska,
for more than 38 years, bringing youth choirs to Area and National events
for 35 years. Among her other talents, Mary was one of the early
solo handbell ringers, performing at many of the Area and National events.
She also played duets with Otis Mumaw. Mary was the last of the elected
National Registrars of AGEHR, Inc., having served from 1975 until 1981.
Mary was elected to the National Presidential cycle, serving as President
1983-85. She continues to serve her Area as Historian and her state
(Nebraska) as Treasurer. She also plays the cello in the Lincoln
(NE) Civic Orchestra.

-- - Marilyn earned three degrees in organperformance
at Northwestern University (Evanston IL) and a Certificate
in Dalcroze Eurhythmics from Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh
PA). She began involvement with handbells in the late 1960's by way
of youth handbell choir. A former member of the Nebraska State Committee
(1985-1998), which included terms as secretary and chair, she is currently
completing service to Area VIII as part of the Area Chair cycle and serves
on the National Board of Directors as Chair of Publications. Among
national committee assignments is service to the Certification Committee
(member and past chair). Marilyn is a published author with emphasis
in pedagogy (Dalcroze euthyrhmics) and musicianship (music theory). She
has also served as a faculty member for national events (Dalcroze,
music theory). Marilyn's "day job" finds her working as an Associate Professor
at Omaha's Creighton University, where she chairs the Department of Fine
and Performing Arts. Dr. Kielniarz is also the director of Creighton's
resident Javanese gamelan ensemble, "Gamelan Son of the Good Earth."

-- Vic was first introduced to bells in 1978, while principal of a school
in Tacoma, WA. A few years later he moved to another school in Coeur
d'Alene, ID. The sound of bells was missed. Within a year he
purchased a set. Since then he has directed school groups in both
Idaho and Georgia. His high school choirs have toured extensively
in the U.S. and Caribbean. He received a BA in education and history
from Southern College in Tennessee. His graduate degrees from the University
of Georgia are also in education. In 1989 he was invited to become
the Executive Director of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers.
He served in that capacity for 11 years. Currently he is Vice President
of Administration for Malmark Handbells. He continues to be active
in bells teaching workshops and directing festivals. He resides in
Doylestown, PA.

Teacher
of workshops at local festivals and seminars on various topics such
as Score Preparation, Children's Handbell Choirs, and Beginning to read
a handbell score for the inexperienced ringer. Served as a mentor
to a beginning
handbell director through the CORD Mentor program. St. Paul's
has some 7 handbell choirs directed by 6 different directors. Their
enthusiasm for handbells grew out of their first festival attendance in
1990. On any given week, 70 people will rehearse on handbells in
a church where the average Sunday church service attendance is 300.
Her biggest thrill to date is she "Co-conducted the 1998 CORD Festival."
In Nancy's words, "Handbells are a joy, and the music is so beautiful.
My philosophy is to make them accessible to many people, and spread the
joy around!"
